KEEP THE HEEL PRINT OUT OF YOUR SHIRTS
A shoe bag that only keeps the dirt in is half a shoe bag. A stiffened sole panel means the heel presses on board rather than into the folded clothes next to it, and the vent at the end means a trainer worn all day dries out instead of travelling damp.
-
Stiffened sole panel — the heel presses on the panel rather than through into the packing
-
Mesh vent at one end — a damp trainer breathes instead of sealing in overnight
-
U-zip mouth — wide enough to get a hand in and lift a shoe out heel-first
-
Coated water-resistant shell — wet grass or a rained-on pavement stays outside the bag
-
Bound seams — no raw edge where grit works its way into the stitching
A shoe bag with a stiffened sole panel, so the shape of the shoe does not press through into whatever it is packed against.
A stiffened sole, so heels stay put
Soft shoe bags do half the job: they keep the dirt in and let the shape out, which is why a packed case has a heel print in the shirts. This one has a light stiffener along the base, so the sole presses on the panel rather than through the bag. The shell is a water-resistant coated polyester, the seams are bound, and there is a mesh vent at one end so a damp trainer breathes instead of fermenting. The mouth opens on a U-zip wide enough to get a hand in and pull a shoe out heel-first.

Questions about the shoe bag
Will muddy shoes ruin it?
The shell is coated and the seams bound, so mud wipes out rather than soaking in. Let them dry first if you can — packing genuinely wet mud into any bag and zipping it is how a bag starts to smell.
Does it hold hiking boots?
One pair of low hiking boots fits sole to sole. Full ankle boots fit as a pair only if they are soft-sided; a stiff pair needs two bags, or the tunnel compartment in the wet-dry travel bag.
Why does the vent matter?
A trainer worn all day is damp. Sealed in a coated bag it stays damp for the whole flight; a mesh panel lets that dry out, which is the difference between a shoe bag and a problem in your case.
