Questions about the packing system

Is this overkill for a long weekend?
Honestly, yes. Two large cubes is a fortnight of folded clothes. For three days you would carry four empty pieces. The three-piece or five-piece sets are the right size for that trip.

Does the laundry sack smell after a week?
It is woven, not coated, so it breathes rather than sealing damp clothes in. That is the right trade for a fortnight. If you need odour containment for gym kit, use the wet-dry wash bag instead.

Will the two large cubes fit side by side?
In a 28-inch checked case, yes, with the mid cube on top. In anything under 26 inches you will be stacking them, which works but costs you the flat-pack advantage.
