The compression zip works the same way as the larger sets, pulling the sidewalls down on folded cotton, but the cubes themselves are cut slimmer: the large is 10 cm deep rather than 12, which is what lets three of them lie flat in a 20-inch international carry-on instead of two. The flat pouches take chargers, underwear or a swimsuit and slide down the side of a packed case.

Questions about the cube set
Why is this one lighter than the six-piece?
No shoe sleeve, a finer polyester and cubes cut 2 cm shallower. On a carry-on-only trip that is roughly one extra folded shirt of allowance, which is the whole reason this set exists.
Will it work in a 40 L cabin backpack?
Yes, and better than deeper cubes. The 10 cm depth means the large cube still closes the main compartment when a laptop sleeve is taking up the back panel of the pack.
Is the mesh face strong enough for shoes?
No, and it is not meant to be. There is no shoe sleeve in this set on purpose. If you need one, the six-piece version includes a sealed sleeve with a wipeable lining.
